Each year, the NACCHO360 conference empowers cross-pollination by bridging traditional public health practices and disciplines with health informatics, information technology, and surveillance.

NACCHO360 boasts an interactive sharing and learning setting for local health department staff, partners, funders, and individuals interested in local public health, to examine strategies, share ideas, and plan actions for sustaining or reinventing their organizations, including how to build their organizational culture for the future. Attendees will learn practical tools, strategies, and concepts that demonstrate the latest effective methods to confront the ongoing public health challenges facing our local health departments today.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created new and exacerbated existing public health issues as local health officials have come under threat in the course of fulfilling their duties responding to the pandemic. In addition, challenges such as underdeveloped information technology infrastructure, lack of training, and insufficient workforce capacity have made public health informatics seem either intimidating or vastly inaccessible to public health professionals.

naccho_informatics_conference_2016_all_photos0351.jpgDespite these obstacles, public health has made great strides in adapting evidence-based practices and developing innovative solutions to meet the unique needs of each community, creating health, security, and equity for all. Frontline workers have remained engaged in activities supporting the health of communities nationwide, including supporting mental health, testing and contact tracing, providing health education, and so much more.

As we move forward and continue to mitigate the ongoing pandemic, it’s critical that the public health workforce and their partners come together to develop new and effective strategies to reshape America’s public health system.
